Worlds Worst Title Tags Competition

by Patrick Altoft on September 24, 2008

This week is very busy so I don’t have time to blog, however I thought it would be fun to start a competition for the Worlds Worst Title Tag.

My entry is http://atlantic-pub.com/ with this monster:

Atlantic Publishing Company - Publisher of Books on Business Resources, Real Estate, Investments, Career Planning, Personal Finance, Internet, Education, Legal, Home Ownership, Photography, Educational Resources, How to Start a New Business, eBay, Retirement, Employee Programs, Parenting, Green Homes, Legal, Non-Profit, Employee Management, Photography, Food Service & Hospitality

If you know of a short, stupid, blank, or any other really bad title tag post it in the comments and we will announce the winners next week.

You can get our blog posts delivered for free by email every day - simply add your email address to the box below or alternatively grab the RSS feed.

When we are related to SEO, why not expose some of the SEO companies who themselves stuff the titles with loads of keywords!

1st example -
http://www.indianhosting.net/searchengine.html
Search engine optimization hyderabad, seo hyderabad, seo company hyderabad,Search engine optimization india,Search engine submission hyderabad,Search engine listing hyderabad.

2nd example -
http://www.aqibsoftech.com/
SEO Company India | Web Design Services | SEO Services Hyderabad | SEO Packages India | Joomla CMS Development | Link Building Services | SEO Experts India | Cheap Web Hosting Services | Dubai

Example 3 -
http://www.obiztek.com/
SEO Company India | SEO India SEO Company Nashik | Search Engine Optimization | SEO Services India | SEO Experts | Search Engine Ranking | Web Hosting | Web Design | Web Development | Cheap SEO India Nashik seo

Many others similar to this.

These titles cross the top bar in the browser! And they claim to be a great SEO company lol!

It may not be the title tag but check that meta keywords tag:

Glen I just cut and pasted the KW tag into Word and ran a word count. It came up as 1,695 words. 1,695 words in a meta keywords tag!

I hope this blog post doesn’t rank for the keywords discussed here or get penalized by Google? LOL! Fingers crossed.. lets see who finds longer than I did :)

5 Patrick Altoft 24/09/2008 at 6:34 pm

This blog post might just become the most keyword filled web page of all time. :-)

6 Vinay 24/09/2008 at 6:35 pm

Looks like the link I submitted has also been in discussion at Google Webmaster Help Forums - http://groups.google.com/group/Google_Webmaster_Help-Indexing/browse_thread/thread/9b361dce3d119e8a?pli=1 and surprisingly the title tag was even bigger during May 2008 and has been shortned henceforth! Ha Ha!

The longest title tag ever found.. I believe! Cheers!

One of the worst title tags I’ve seen for a homepage:

Page 1

8 Craig 24/09/2008 at 9:33 pm

I vote for these web pages, all 6 million of ‘em:

There are many pages titled “Untitled”.

10 Chetan 25/09/2008 at 7:43 am

That nepal tour site title tag is just!!!!

11 bartjan 25/09/2008 at 8:50 am

really stuffing their keywords http://www.interieurgrind.nl/ (dutch website)

title:
interieurgrind Magnovit 2000 Designfloors siergrindvloeren siergrindvloer siergrind grindvloeren grindvloer grind epoxyvloeren epoxyvloer epoxy vloeren vloer grindtapijt natuursteentapijt woongrind steentapijt stonecarpet interieurgrind grindkorrels grindkorrel korrel quartzvloeren quartzvloer quartz projectvloeren projectvloer projektvloeren projektvloer siergrintvloeren siergrintvloer siergrint grintvloeren grintvloer grint troffelvloeren troffelvloer troffel mortelvloeren mortelvloer mortel bedrijfsvloeren bedrijfsvloer granulaatvloeren granulaatvloer granulaat woongrindvloeren woongrindvloer korreltapijt korreltapijtvloer korrelvloeren korrelvloer korrel vloertechniek kunststofvloeren kunststofvloer kunststof kunstofvloeren kunstofvloer design vloeren designvloer designvloeren

Waterstones must lose colossal organic traffic - every page is welcome to Waterstones.com - http://www.waterstones.com/waterstonesweb/home.do

13 Elliot 26/09/2008 at 8:44 pm

Personally I love the ones that show someone has used a web building tool of some sort and has Page 1 or similar….

14 Mike 29/09/2008 at 8:15 am

There maybe those that fail to give a title name hence the ‘Untitled’ issue, however personally i think its worse when people actively give a page a TITLE tag; either something stupidly long or just stupidly… stupid - like ‘Home’.

15 Pablo 30/09/2008 at 8:50 am

and i thought this one was a bad Title tag, strong point its this is one of the biggest sport centers in spain (www.decathlon.es):

Decathlon - decathlon,tiendas,tienda,deporte,deportes,deportista,deportistas,online,on,line,on-line -

The winner by far is the Nepal Tour Package.
