Third batch of website reviews

by Patrick Altoft on July 4, 2007

Here is the next batch of website reviews. If you want your site reviewed please post a comment at the bottom of this post.

Some points to note:

  • Why I keep recommending Auction Ads
  • I won’t review p0rn sites, I’ve got better things to do (honest).
  • From now on I will only review sites where I have something useful to say that hasn’t been said in another review.
  • Read all the other reviews before you submit your site, I won’t be repeating advice.

experts-exchange.co.za

Marketing a site like this is hard as most people just Google their questions rather than visiting a particular site.

You would need to concentrate on SEO and making sure your site ranks. Maybe release a few good web development articles as link bait and StumbleUpon bait.

onedump.com

Promoting image hosting sites is all viral so you need to figure out what photobucket did and start to do something new and innovative. I’ve never used an image host so have no real idea of the market.

stopcandida.com

Your ordering page needs a big buy now button at the top and the bottom. Try to use Yahoo Answers to become an authority in your niche.

thesoccerblog.org

If you have a blog about anybody famous whether it’s actors or sports stars always make sure you use images in your posts to get more traffic.

Also in order to increase your links try getting to know all the other soccer blogs and making friends with the editors.

In terms of affiliate marketing target soccer kit on eBay using Auction Ads and some sports stores on Commisson Junction.

arcadepal.com

Find the next Desktop Tower Defense and try to use social networking sites to increase traffic. There is little potential in affiliate marketing on these sites and the competition is high.

tonyrocks.com

Really the key in succeeding with any kind of blog is viral marketing. If you can get your content out there and noticed by thousands of users then a good percentage will stick around and subscribe to your feed.

worldgemguide.com

Not sure what aspects you want me to review on this? You seem to have all the basics covered.

pattayaholiday.biz

Link building for local sites can be quite straightforward. Create a really useful resource full of information and interactive Google Maps and then encourage people to link to you. Maybe include a directory of local businesses and exchange links with them.

pinpedia.com

I’m not sure how to monetize this site other than using Auction Ads and any other affiliate links you can find from pinball retailers.

Try to get some link bait created by recycling these articles from Digg.

thewebmasterstool.com

No matter how good your tools are Google is never going to let your site rank well as long as you are selling links on it. If the links are a good source of income then thats great, keep them. But if your goal is to rank in Google you need to remove the links.

Also, I couldn’t get your stylesheet to load.

asgsoft.net

I would suggest doing some keyword research to see which terms to target on your homepage.

The blog is a good idea but if you want to get loads of links and readers you need to be posting at least once per day if not more and working the social networks as much as you can.

scuba-diving-heaven.com

I see you have a “help with feeds” link but it goes to somebody elses feed page which might confuse people a bit. An email sign up option would work well here. Also maybe you are using too many social bookmark buttons.

StumbleUpon will be good for driving traffic and you should see about some holiday/vacation companies that do affiliate programs. The commission is always high on those.

photos.jstechs.com

This site is a prime candidate for IP delivery. I live in the UK so can’t order a product. Thats fine but I see the same content as somebody in the US.

Ideally I should see loads of Adsense and US customers should see no Adsense, just the payment button.

Maybe you could offer a cut price digital version for people outside the US?

Having the bookmark buttons is good. Also you should be trying StumbleUpon.
