We have a new website!

by Patrick Altoft on / 9 responses

6 months after we first started work the new Branded3 site finally went live yesterday evening. It was a long process primarily because we scrapped everything from the existing site and started from scratch on the design and the content.

As most of you know the task of sitting down and trying to convey all your thoughts about the different areas of a business on paper is a really hard task and takes a lot of time. The sheer amount of content took months to write, check, revise and then improve. The content is still not completed and there are at least a dozen pages still to be created about various things we do.

New Branded3 site

The most important change for me is the fact we’ve abandoned the blog/news section which the previous site had and all the news is now syndicated in from Blogstorm. I hate reading company blogs as much as everybody else so there seemed little point in carrying on a half hearted attempt to write one. You can probably guess that I wouldn’t even consider taking the route of certain other SEO agencies and outsource the news to a content writing service – the resulting articles are mind numbingly boring.

Some of you might notice the h1 tags look quite nice – we tried using sIFR but it was loading slowly so we switched to cufon instead.

Let me know what you think & watch this space because Blogstorm is getting a facelift next week too.

I like it – clear, strong design with good calls to action and self-evident navigation. Also good is how you manage to make clear where someone is on the website. Often when you click through on a banner on a site’s homepage you end up somewhere deep in the site, and you’re not sure where that page sits in the overall structure. Your new site does it well with the highlighted navigation links.

One thing: on a slightly slower connection the text background is dark grey at first before the page completes loading and the background turns white. Not a biggie, but I like to nitpick. :)

Hi Patrick
It looks great .. a big improvement on the old site.
Are you extending the team page as thats one of my favourite parts to a company site .. give it the personality.
Not sure about the photos section with the pic of the snowy offices .. but all in all good looking site.

Hi Becky. We will be extending the team page yes. As for the photos we only had the one but we will be expanding that section out with a small gallery when we get a few more.

Love the site, I already poked a compliment over twitter to you. I really like the minimalism you’ve used, probably the best layout I’ve seen in while no clutter whatsoever and navigation is really something, brilliant!

It looks nice, go ahead Patrick as some changes are necessary with the change in time, so let’s move with the new designs and thanks for asking our suggestions first.

Patrick that sure is a nice design you have there! I like the dark header and footer, and the white in the center draws attention to the text. It looks very professional, and I congratulate you on a job well done.
