What happens to blog traffic during a week away

After a week in the sun with almost no internet access I’m back to see what the damage has been to my blog traffic.

Sol Sharm hotel, Sharm El Sheik

Feed subscribers are down by around 30 although I think this is due to the way feedburner reports numbers rather than the fact people unsubscribed(?)

Most interesting is the fact Google traffic is down 22.7% on the same period last week. Just shows the effect fresh content has on traffic.

Vacation traffic

I’m off to read a weeks worth of posts from 200+ blogs and figure out how to upgrade blogstorm to Wordpress to take advantage of the time delayed posts feature.

Normal blogging will resume later today.

I really like the idea of having posts prepared ahead of time on a make money online site and Wordpress does that just fine.

But I also like the idea of having a few guest posters and I think that is what we will do the next time we take off for more than a week.

It’s a real eye opener when you see how fast stats can drop when you’re not posting regularly.

What blog software do you use now? I assumed it was Wordpress but evidently not Smile

David, I just wrote a quick php program myself. Wordpress didn’t have good caching a while back so it was very hard to withstand Digg.

Hi patrick… can i ask which hotel that was ? looks very familiar….

Mary we went to the Sol Sharm hotel

Lots of diving, I will upload some photos next week.

What changed your mind about WP? Updates to WP-cache?
