Track your search rankings with SEO Rank Monitor

by Patrick Altoft on / 13 responses

Last week I started looking into a few rank tracking solutions to see what was new on the market and Yoast pointed out SEO Rank Monitor. We’ve looked quite a lot in the past at SEO analytics tools and I think this market is wide open for somebody to build a fantastic suite of tools but so far there is no clear leader.

The big issue for rank tracking tools is accuracy, most of the tools we try are inaccurate every time we use them and inaccurate data is worse than no data at all. SEO Rank Monitor has been accurate for me on every keyword I’ve tracked this week so that’s a pretty good start. The tool is in beta so if you have any issues with it then I’m sure they are happy to accept feedback.

As well as the rank tracking this tool offers features such as charting indexed pages and incoming links which is nice to have.

It’s free to try so if you are looking for a ranking tracker I suggest you give it a go.

Interesting idea, but it doesn’t seem accurate. I have to wonder how they’re getting their results.

It took a couple of minutes for the ranks to appear after adding keywords so I assume they’re getting them live/on-demand from somewhere. They’re several positions out from where they should be though.

Hi Patrick,

Advanced Web Ranking from Caphylon is the only rank tracker that I am happy with, like you I have tried probably dozens over the last few years, and AWR does exactly what it promises, and does it well.

Im tracking over 1000 keywords, with daily updates, specific alarms and more.. it works like a charm.

(BY THE WAY: the css on your “my profile” page is completely fubarred, making it tough to use)..

One feature is very cool: the integration with Google Analytics, to us that is what sets this one apart from all other rank trackers.

I use the SEOmoz pro tool which works quite well. You get a nice weekly update by email. It does have a couple of glitches each week, but generally ok. Could do with better graphs though, clients always like them.

Patrick – I will give this a try (along with some of the other suggestions in the replies) – not quite the same but what on the face of it appears a good seo “guide” is this website – http://websitegrader.com/ – don’t know what you guys think of it?

PS It has nothing to do with me so it is not some self promoting reply!!

Patrick this is just what I’ve been looking for since starting the rebuild of our site.
Seems that you are happy with the results straight off the bat, but will you be posting a sequel in a couple of weeks with an update of the results? I think people like me would appreciate that before the free period ends! (I signed up today)

will have a look sounds little bit complicated and expensive too, i guess it is only for seo professionals, would have been great if there could have been a youtube video

SemRush is also a good solution. You even don’t need to enter the keywords. Just enter your site url and you’ll see all the keywords you are ranking on.

Advanced monitoring has just be added to Sitexploration which is so nice. Integration with Google Analytics is planed as well.
