Technorati losing Google traffic

by Patrick Altoft on August 17, 2007

For the past couple of years Technorati has had good rankings for virtually every search term you can think of. The tag pages are well linked to across the web and most ranked well for their target keyword – the ultimate autogenerated example of the long tail.

Michael Arrington went as far as calling it a traffic party back in June. Today it seems the party has ended with Technorati no longer ranking for the terms it used to.

We know that Google doesn’t like to index other peoples search results so it will come as no surprise that they don’t want to rank tag pages highly either.

Technorati

Technorati has suffered a slight drop in Alexa ranking recently which might be an indicator of lost Google traffic. Something like this is impossible to confirm without seeing real traffic logs however.

I checked a few search terms that used to see Technorati on page 1 and it had gone from them all.

Well, maybe it’s possible Technorati is losing Google Traffic because less people is using it…

I mean: I have a Technorati Account but I don’t really use it (I visit it from time to time but I don’t seize the possibilities the tool has)…

Regards from Spain,

Paquito.

Alexa is not exactly accurate.
