Roger Woody sues Christiansburg bloggers
US based developer and landowner Roger Woody has apparently sued a group of local bloggers after they allegedly published misleading information about him on their website.
In a complaint filed Thursday in Montgomery County Circuit Court, Woody named Terry Ellen Carter, Tacy L. Newell-Foutz, Meghan Dorsett and Carol Lindstrom as defendants in the lawsuit, which asks for $10 million in actual damages and $350,000 in punitive damages.
He claims the women “combined, associated, agreed, mutually undertook or concerted together for the purpose of developing a Web site on the Internet to be used willfully and maliciously” to injure him in his business. The complaint, prepared by lawyer B.K. Cruey of Shawsville, lists the Web site as www.thinkchristiansburg.com.
I don’t really want to write my own thoughts about this (I’ve made that mistake before) so you will have to read the article yourself.
The moral of this story is that bloggers should be careful what they write. Whether you are in the right or not you can still be sued.

My lawyer used to say “I can’t stop people from suing you”. Anyone can sue anyone for any reason.

Sadly, our society is getting ever litigious every day, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down. As pissed as I get about it and even blog about the fact that being a dumbass who dumps hot coffee on yer bits gets you $3 million is absolutely ludicrous… it still keeps happening and there’s nothing I can do to stop it.
My only goal these days is to have so much money I won’t worry about affording a lawyer if anything retarded does happen. And knowing me, it has a good chance.
