Maximise your income with PubMatic

by Patrick Altoft on / 6 responses

ReadWriteWeb has the scoop on a new service called PubMatic which automatically chooses ads from whichever network is going to pay you the most.

Current networks include Google Adsense, Yahoo! Publisher Network, ValueClick, and Komli.

The service is in Alpha but 100 users can sign up today for free.

The most interesting part is a widget that brings live income reports to your desktop. Apparently this works whether you are using the PubMatic system or not.

You just have to trust them. I’ve not used the service so I can’t offer much more information unfortunately.

Hi,
My name is Rajeev Goel and I’m the General Manager of PubMatic. Thank you to Patrick for covering the PubMatic launch.

I’d like to address Pablo’s question regarding guarantees about safety. PubMatic does not interfere with the contractual or monetary agreement between the publisher and the ad network (e.g., Google AdSense, YPN, ValueClick, etc.). The ad network continues to serve the ad, and the publisher continues to be paid by the ad network. PubMatic does not touch any money.

What PubMatic does is work on behalf of the publisher to determine which ad network the publisher should use for a given ad call, and what the layout of that ad should be (the latter applies to text ads only right now). In terms of ad network, we run an auction to predict which ad network will monetize at the highest rate for the publisher. In terms of ad layout, we use algorithms to determine the optimal color scheme, and soon ad size, type, and more. Once all of this is determined, the appropriate ad is called for the publisher.

In terms of safety, the ultimate guarantee that you have is our reputation. The team has been working on this product for approximately one year now, so I can assure you we are not in business to mess up a publisher’s revenue stream. Our goal is instead to maximize that revenue stream on behalf of publishers.

I thought of this a while ago, and more of an online auction style to benefit both advertisers and Publishers. Good that someone actually devloped it.
