Playing with Google Analytics Intelligence

by Patrick Altoft on November 20, 2009

Google Analytics has been adding loads of new features recently and in the last few days the Intelligence feature has finally been made live.

This new feature allows you to see an overview of the major events happening on any particular day before segmenting the data to drill down further.

You can also create alerts to warn you if your search traffic for a particular keyword drops by more than a certain percentage compared to the previous day or the same day last week.

It doesn’t seem to be able to match against average daily search traffic which would be far better and without real time reporting I’m not sure how useful this is but it’s a start. You could also use the alerts feature to monitor Digg traffic spikes but again the data isn’t real time so it’s not that useful.

I’ve been wasting far too much of my time on analytics lately and been loving every minute of it.

This coupled with the advanced segments can really help to drill down into the stats and see where your site is falling down or could be improved.

I’ve set up quite a few alerts for bounce rates and landing page conversions, as well as advanced segments for brand traffic versus non brand conversions, already got some really useful information.

I have seen this new feature of Google analytics, but not used it until now. I think I should do this :-) thanks for sharing.

Hi, habib here, i just wanted to know the use of segment section as well as the significance.
Is google analytics intelligence is used only for comparing data, if there are many uses could u list me some of the uses. An example would be highly appreciated.
