New Google SEO starter guide

by Patrick Altoft on / 5 responses

Google has just updated their SEO starter guide and it’s a “must read” for anybody new to the subject.

The guide makes very little mention of linkbuilding but it covers 90% of what people need to understand when building a website. It’s also full of pictures of Googlebot to brighten things up.

On another note, apparently in 1999 Excite had the chance to buy Google for $750,000 and turned it down. Google is now worth $165 billion.

I’d like to think I know quite a bit about SEO and building a site to ‘best practices’ but the document is still very useful for reminding what Google sees as the correct way of doing things and for getting rid of any bad habits that may have crept in.

Oh and Googlebot is adorable too so there’s something for everyone!

The guide is pretty useful, though they don’t offer any big secrets, though we were all expecting this, I believe :)

Great guide, thanks for sharing!

It’s a good reference for web developers and also a great reference when talking to clients about best practices of SEO

To say Excite are kicking themselves now is a bit of an understatement :-)
