MrSpicy retraction – I was wrong

by Patrick Altoft on March 27, 2008

Some of you might have read my post yesterday about Mr Spicy vs Yahoo. Some of the information contained in that post was incorrect and, following email and phone discussions with lawyers and representatives from Mr Spicy this morning I am happy to retract some of my comments.

According to the information I have been given Mr Spicy does have a website at http://mrspicy.net and therefore I was wrong to say that they don’t. In addition my comments about the search engine rankings of the Mr Spicy website were also apparently incorrect and I am therefore retracting these.

I apologise for any confusion this may have caused. Thanks to our friendly injury lawyers for the help & advice on this one.

That Mr Spicy website is a bit of a joke.

Well, all is not what it seems I think. You were clearly bullied into this am I not correct? You mainly stated that when searching for mr spicy their site never came up in the serps.

And the site http://mrspicy.net/ is an absolute joke. It is hosted on godaddy’s server and the title is “This is a free Starter Web Page courtesy of GoDaddy.com, Inc..”. SO obviously they put up the site when reading your post.

Why are you backing down to this mate? What could they realistically do in the end?

In my opinion you have done nothing wrong but speak your mind, Freedom of speak and all that crap.

My two cents,
Keep doing what you are doing, you blog is one of the only blogs that I look forward to posts.

The reason I am backing down is because I have no desire to get into a legal battle with somebody. I would rather spend time doing stuff I enjoy.

Also I believe that the website mrspicy.net has been up for some time and wasn’t just posted yesterday.

I do think in the end its best that you rather leave it as it is probably not worth the effort. I just dont like how people have to retract statements just because it offends someone.

I am seeing it more and more often and it is irritating me.

Anyway, enough ranting from me. You keep at it mate as you are doing a great job.
