Following on from yesterdays post asking where people rank for their first name I did some research to see which names had the most results in Google. The list was seeded with data from the UK and US governments popular baby names of 2006 information.
Call your baby John or Max and it’s going to be pretty hard to find them on Google.
Drop a comment below with your name and website and I will link your name to your site.

My first name is having 165,000,000 results
Matt at #46
Good thing I only need to beat the singer and the kid from the Omen.
Hi Patrick
With my surname it aint too bad, but being a John makes for a challenge!
Regards
John C
Darn it! I knew I was common as muck, but #3!?!?
David Bradley
Wow, I didn’t even make the top 323?
99,500,000. Not too bad (although what defines good or bad in this list?). I wonder how many visits the top spot for each name gets per month from Google.
80 Matthew 99,500,000 results
Looks like I’m at #58. Much higher then I had expected.
My brother name is Max and I think he is pretty happy with his name.
Actually, there only 324 of the most popular names. Tyler is listed twice
Well obviously Jonk isn’t up there.
However, a couple of things (I’m bored at work.):
Max – is also in other contexts such as “Pepsi Max” “live life to the max” etc.” “I drunk 40 – max!”
Georgia – is a state in the USA.
Christian is a religious follower
Summer is a season
Victoria is a state in Australia. And there’s some kind of Victoria in Canada too, from memory.
Sydney is a city, as is Austin, (San) Diego, (San) Antonio and (St.) or (Port) Louis.
Faith is a concept.
Dave and David, Ben and Benjamin are on there, as are Matt and Matthew. Merging the two results for each gives them much higher rankings – David should really be #1!!
I suspect that Ben’s results are helped by Ben’s Bargains.
Ok I have had my fun…
Hey, Dominick Gatto here, my site, DominickGatto.com, is currently down because of an issue with my server provider – but you can add me to that list.
Thanks,
Dominick
hey, there i am at #148 (kinda).
Glen has 65 million results
Thanks for the link Patrick
90,400,000 for craig….that’s about 87-88 on the list, yet not up there
I compared Mark to all the top 10 names, My name should be way up there too. Hope you fix it.
1,740,000
Get me on that list.
This would be more accurate if “name” was included in the google search, as some of these names have decidedly non-name results
Damn. I’m in top 50 for both Alex and Robert. And I thought my name was special
No Trip, or Tripp?
wow, nice, where is Thomas? I cant see
Nice piece of work. The good bit is to have the most popular name – the worst bit is all the competition. I would love a link to my site!
It’s nice that I have a unique name. Just 55,000 results for my first name and I rank 4th
Wow, that’s pretty interesting.
My name is Taylor, by the way.
couldnt find sergey on the list.
wonder why… but some results are doubled: emily for example.
Being ranked #7 on the list (Robert) just shows you that my parents knew what they were doing when I came into the world 47 years ago.
I get to compete with Kevin Federline. Yay.
I’ll take “David”.
This has to be the best piece of comment bait in history!
hmmm…i thought my name would be higher then #70 jeez
Can I get a link on my name Alex for the website I signed with ?
Great list, Patrick!
I actually put together a tool for my website in Autumn 2007 that looks at baby names data in search engines. However, instead of looking at search results, I looked at news and blog mentions in G and Y!. My app tracks all the names in our database and checks how often they pop up on the web each week.
Baby Names Buzz – take a look!
You can also flip the list upside down, and find the LEAST frequent names. This is great for parents looking for names that Google well, and that are not too commonplace.
I hope you like it, and sorry I didn’t find this post of yours earlier!
i cant believe that the name kirsty is not on the list oh my god
I didn’t realise I’m so popular! Happy to be at #5
I can’t believe my name isn’t on your list. Just kidding, my name hasn’t been popular for years but it will likely be coming back in the future. I see other old names that are becoming popular again.
Great list of names. But you missing mine.
The search count represents the sum total of a name’s popularity over the past years, eg. from popularity of John it is evident that the name was not popular among parents in recent times. But the name has been popular for a very long time, thereby spawning many famous persons so named; thus the current #1 ranking on Google? Good info, but parents looking for current popularity trends should be looking at current stats..
its about brandon reece chow does the funiest things
Another view is that the occurrences are not given to the baby girls and baby boys, but what these baby girls and baby boys grow up to do that is reportable.
What if the name that you are given leads you to who you are and what you do (thus the number of web pages with your name on it)…
Hmmm…
Let’s not get started on birthdays and numerology shall we
Thanks for the 300 plus list of name and its results for sharing it with us.
Please add some new sweet names
#137 here. I remember trying to think of a name for our baby girl. We changed our minds the day she was born
