I believe the trouble with such sites is that genuine users end up being grouped in with the spammers who jump on any linking opportunity that comes their way. The spammers end up devaluing the community / website in question and reduce the effectiveness of the links you create. I'm interesting in seeing how Linktive deal with the spammers.
