HowStuffWorks.com selling links for $75 per month

by Patrick Altoft on / 5 responses

HowStuffWorks.com is a PageRank 8 website with over 737,000 incoming links and a very nice Alexa rank of 1,374.

It seems that they are looking to make a little extra money and are selling links for the bargain price of $75 per month. When you buy a link it shows up on a section of your choice and will appear on about 5 different pages.

I don’t know how long they have been selling links for but assuming Google hasn’t devalued them $75 is a real bargain price.

Seriously, if you are into buying links go buy some for a few months before its too late. Pick pages like this that don’t have any other link spots sold yet.

You can see the links here.

HowStuffWorks has been selling text links for a long time – I had a client’s competitor listed on there and emailed HowStuffWorks quite a few times trying to get link purchase information, but they never replied back. Hadn’t realised at the time that they were with Text Link Ads. Anyway, now they’re reported, probably a little too hot. Smile

“Seriously, if you are into buying links go buy some for a few months before its too late.”

I can’t tell if that was sarcasm or not, advising people to advertise before it’s too late at the same time you’re drawing attention to it and making “too late” just that much sooner.

Is it wise to out partners of your advertisers like that? I know some newbie mentioned it on some obscure forum… but Text-Link-Ads isn’t advertising on their site…

Hi Michael,

I don’t really see it as “outing” them. TLA allows anyone to see their inventory. My intention was to alert readers to the fact that they could maybe get a good deal on ads. Brian pointed out above that they have actually been selling links for a while so my “get them quick” comment looks to be a bit late anyway.
