How Mahalo, Pownce and Truemors get traffic

by Patrick Altoft on September 17, 2007

Compete has published a fantastic analysis of where Mahalo, Pownce and Truemors received traffic from over the summer.

Compete stats

The stats show that despite Googles public policy on not wanting to index other peoples search results they are happy to send 23% of Mahalos traffic, watch this figure drop to zero sometime in the future.

Jay Meattle, the writer, seems surprised that Digg doesn’t drive more traffic as the team apparently “constantly submits Mahalo links to del.icio.us. Digg, Twitter, etc”. There is a fine line between marketing and spamming, it usually falls at the point where people don’t click on your articles. If you keep getting buried maybe its time for a new strategy?
