How I Leveraged Digital Point For 11,200 Visitors

by Patrick Altoft on / 5 responses

Since I posted the Year 1 Stats a few people emailed to ask how on earth Blogstorm got 11,200 visitors from the Digital Point forums.

The answer is simple, I created a thread offering something no DP members could resist – an Amazing new way to build thousands of one way natural links for free. This thread got 960 replies before the moderators closed it a couple of weeks ago.

The killer part of the thread is that people had to reply to get the script so the thread kept getting bumped up to the top of the category it was listed in and never got buried.

You are probably wondering how I got the traffic to my site? I simply sent all the respondents a link to this post. Unlike most free things on DP this was actually useful and had no catches.

Pretty simple way to market a blog if you ask me.

Very clever trick there Patrick… But how did 960 respondents turn into 11,200 visitors?

Gyutae, it might be the signature link effect too.. When members see that this person has some popular threads, they try to find more about his talent and work through his websites that are in his signature space.
So signature also might have helped.. Just a guess though.

@Gyutae:
There are 100 readers for every responder on digitalpoint. I have done a similar post like this myself and it has only received around 60 replies but has sent over 3000 visitors.
