Very interesting article.

At the same time I wouldn't fully agree with GEO IP and SEO. I have several websites on .co.uk hosted in US and ranking very high on all local UK searches. At the same time I've seen UK hosted sites ranking lower than their .com "twins" in local searches.

Hello,
My blog has two language: indonesian and english. The language will be switched based on visitor ip location automatically and I don't give an option to visitor to change the language.
So if google spider uses US IP hit my blog, then the spider will get english language.

Do you think if people search using indonesian language they don't get my blog ? (because google only know my blog is using english)
And how about adsense ? will they appear on my web site? It's based on spider knowlege or based on real content when visitor hit my blog?

Thx,
Plugeie

I think there are certain advantages of having language versions hosted on one .com - name recognition and a good domain history. Multiple country-specific domain would be ideal, but there is a price to pay which often outweighs the benefits.

Besides commerce sites, since when did anyone ever create a website based on a single market? It's impossible. My U.S.-based English site gets over 3/4 of its visitors from other countries.
