GoCompare has bounced back

by Patrick Altoft on March 27, 2008

GoCompare has recovered from their alleged link buying penalty and is now back in the top 5 for terms such as “car insurance”.

This is clearly good news for them but the wider implication is that even penalised sites can recover, as long as they are seen to be removing all traces of paid links.

It also shows that as long as you are a quality site you can still rank for “car insurance” without buying links which is the most reassuring part of this story.

I actually did a search for “GoCompare” yesterday and pagerank10.co.uk was #1 with GoCompare not even listed, today their back at the top with sitelinks!

Looks like they must have been working hard to clean up their paid link profile over the last few weeks.

Good for them, they just need a good bit of rep management to clean up the front page of Google now, if you are reading GoCompare I will take care of it for £5K.

Find me on Twitter

Since 2 of the listings are by me does that mean I get £1k of that?
