How to foil scrapers and improve rankings in one easy step

by Patrick Altoft on / 7 responses

I love people who steal my content and publish it on their blogs. Seeing these scraper sites gives me the same feeling celebrities get when they have their first stalker – slightly worried but secretly pleased they finally became important enough for somebody to notice.

Foiling scrapers is easy, just make sure every post you write includes at least one deep link to something important on your website.

Doing this means scrapers improve your search engine and Technorati rankings every time you make a post.

Do you never worrie about duplicated content?

just recently i found a page that had 12(!!!) articles copied including all misspellings and even my affiliate links. how crazy is that?
I just got a little nervous because of this duplicated content thing – do you consider this as a threat?

Are you not worried about duplicate content?

I’m not concerned about duplicate content, Google is clever enough to know that these scraper sites are worthless. If you have a new site it might be an issue but it’s fine for anybody with even a moderately trusted site.

I’ve been getting scrapped by a blog I won’t name, and now I know what to do about it! Thanks!

Not all scrapers copy your work code for code, some strip out links (which if I were a scraper I would to). Just FYI

I just got scraped and I had a link to my site page html to the top of the site page.

My site just lost all google search position because of the duplicate content.
