In general I don't think that they will face a traffic slow down as they have millions of loyal visitors, but this thing alone will for sure slow down their servers (BTW they are one of the slowest sites on the web and probably they should hire some developers) I think you are right. Digg, in my opinion, hit its peak a year ago. It has interesting stories occasionally, but most of the stories on its front page reflect the immature and ignorant demographic the site appeals to. Reddit.com and Slashdot.org are much better in my opinion.
