Worlds Worst Link Exchange Request

by Patrick Altoft on August 14, 2007

Whats worse than a link exchange email?

Link Exchange

A link exchange request on Digg, thats what. Can you imagine anything more likely to upset Diggers and less likely to work?

A great example of somebody not understanding social media or website promotion.

A close second to the guy’s first mistake is using bad grammar. When asking for a link exchange, other webmasters won’t know you so they judge you by how well you write, in addition to your website of course.

Well.. you know what they say… there is no such thing as bad publicity..
I guess that with your single post this guy achieve his objective.

I’d say his first mistake was posting it on digg, or perhaps joining a company that trained him so badly.

It is almost too funny to believe. Give the guy a break, he is thinking outside the box!

That would be hilarious as a joke (especially if it had a Borat reference or something,) but if it’s for real, well, I don’t think anyone will be linking to the site in question.

How sad.

Don’t think the poor guy got any links exchanged…but hey..at least he tried!

He sounds so innocent, I almost get a lump in my throat.

All he is thinking about is the amount of money he can make off of Adsense. That site looks like a disaster hit it!

Give the guy a break. I have made some crazy mistakes when I first started out. And I “know” I’ll make glaring mistakes in the future. He’ll learn . . . give him kudos for taking action. So many of us let the unknown and ignorance stop us, instead of using those life conditions to learn and become experts through our errors.

Wow . . . “Experts through our errors” that’s a damn good book title! Okay, I thought of it first folks, no body steal it.

Oh c’mon…I bet he got at least one real link out of it. People love irony, and this is ironic for sure. Of course, if there were a thousand of these on Digg people would be pissed. Smile

oh dear god…
I wonder if people will take pity on him and decide to throw him some one way links…

Smile

It’s not as bad as an e-mail I had the other day asking me to have a look at a stranger’s site - they wanted me to look at every page and send back a critique including suggested improvements! Needless to say my reply was polite, bordering on the incredulous!
Fair play to anyone who tries rather than just complaining though…

Here I thought the lingerie site requesting a link exchange with me and then saying our sites were related was bad enough. This takes the cake!

15 TEEJAY 13/09/2007 at 3:53 am

That’s very funny. I had funny link request too. Although posting on Digg is off the charts.

Nice grammar…. tut tut!

Very good. I am searching sites related to cigarettes for swap link exchange.
