Our RSS Feeds and Google Toolbar Buttons

by Patrick Altoft on June 7, 2007

To make it easier for our users to access the BlogStorm data we have provided RSS feeds for the most popular posts and the most recent posts on each of the sites we track.

The feed links are located at in the center of the tracker pages as shown in the image below. To add this feed to your RSS reader you would need to right click on the link and select “Copy link location” and then add it to your reader. Our feeds have been tested in Netvibes and Google Reader but if you have any problems please let me know in the comments.

Probably the coolest application we offer is the Google Toolbar Button, again available from the top of the tracker page.

Clicking on the link to install the toolbar button brings up a prompt box similar to the one below. The button includes an RSS updater so your link data will always be up to date.

The feeds link through to Yahoo Site Explorer to allow you to drill down into the link data. Some RSS validation services didn’t like the format of the Yahoo link so we pass the url through a script on our site called redr.php. This script doesn’t do anything other than redirect to Yahoo.

If you have any problems installing the buttons or using the feeds please let me know.

You can get our blog posts delivered for free by email every day - simply add your email address to the box below or alternatively grab the RSS feed.
