Despite the IIS SEO Toolkit product being launched months ago it’s not really got the attention it deserves, I wasn’t even aware of it until the A4u forum last month.
The toolkit was developed by Microsoft and runs in a very similar way to the automated tools that the MSN team uses to continually audit their millions of content pages so it’s an ideal way to test large scale websites and also carry out pre-flight SEO testing on development sites.
Thanks to some major issues with the search engine friendliness of content management systems that use asp and .NET a lot of SEO consultants hate working with Microsoft technologies but things are getting better with easier URL re-writing and now an automated SEO auditing system.
As you can see from the screenshot below even Blogstorm has a few errors to fix, 47,811 to be exact.

Here is the product information, go give it a try and let me know if you have more errors than me.
The IIS Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Toolkit helps Web developers, hosting providers, and Web server administrators to improve their Web site’s relevance in search results by recommending how to make the site content more search engine-friendly. The IIS SEO Toolkit includes the Site Analysis module, the Robots Exclusion module, and the Sitemaps and Site Indexes module, which let you perform detailed analysis and offer recommendations and editing tools for managing your Robots and Sitemaps.

Thanks Patrick for the post and for sharing the very resourceful SEO toolkit here, it really helps a lot to check your site.
More comments from tag44Would love to see a post on IIS / ASP / .NET specific SEO issues. I’m plagued by them constantly, have fixed loads but there’s generally a lack of information out there on the topic so its always possible to miss a few.

Patrick,
This has apparently been available in Vista for quite a while.
You can access it through Control Panel -> Programs & Features -> Turn Windows Featurs On or Off –>Internet Information Services.
I didn’t know it was there but I was just told by a .net developer friend of mine who has been using it for around 4 months from within Vista.
More comments from GooshBack in August I did a fairly large write-up of this toolkit. It looks like they’ve improved some. You do need to jump through a lot of hoops first before you can use the program – including the installation of IIS 7. Like Goosh says, most Vista computers (mine included) came with IIS but the version needed to update to IIS 7 in order for the toolkit to work.
Here’s my walk through (along with the issues I had along the way):

I use the IIS SEO Toolkit ever couple of time I do an upload. You never know what mistakes you have made whilst fiddling about with you site. You can use it on any site it does not have to be asp.net or on IIS. If you want to feel good run it against a competitor.
Amazing! Thanks for such a Good thing. Keep up Good work.
Installed IIS7 on my computer but still not able to install this toolkit, does any one have the same problem?
