What defines an A list blogger?

by Patrick Altoft on / one response

People are always talking about bloggings A-list but I still haven’t been able to figure out a clear definition. I’m pretty sure there is an RSS subscriber threshold that you have to cross before you make the A list.

My guess is that on average, any blogger with more than 10,000 RSS subscribers is probably A list. What do you think? Is this the best way to measure a blogs success? Are you an A-list blogger?

I think someone who has the ability to speak and make a big reaction. I wouldnt say RSS readers is the main key although you would expect a lot of readers for an A list blogger.

I guess someone like Robert Scoble who can say something and really create a reaction on the internet or possibly Shoemoney although an A list blogger would probably be still unknown to the majority of the world.

But, we see blogs like Engadget who one of their writers mentions a rumour of an iPhone delay and stocks drop by a HUGE %. I have no idea which of their bloggers wrote that so I wouldnt class them particularly as an A list blogger… but the Engadget brand was what made the effect there. If that same engadget blogger wrote on another blog I am sure the reaction would have been no where near the same.
